As reported by Punch Metro, two trucks on Wednesday crashed in a market in Ibughubu, Umuchu, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State and killed no fewer than six persons.
Plenty others got wounded in the crash involving a tipper with registration number JJT-421XG and another truck loaded with cement.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity for fear of being arrested by the police said the trucks had a head-on collision and somersaulted into the market and killed no fewer than six persons and left many others wounded.
He added that the cement truck which was on high speed, pushed the tipper to the other side of the market where it destroyed shops and inflicted injuries on many.
He added, “The two drivers died on the spot. Two persons suspected to be conductors of the trucks and two traders also died in the incident.”
Efforts to get police confirmation of the story failed as telephone calls put across to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, rang out, while a text message sent to him on the matter was not replied as of the time of filing this report.
