Tragic: 2-years-old boy falls in an open well in Kano

A boy of age two (2) has been reported to have fallen inside an open well in Kano, he drowned before help could reach him.

Abdullahi Jibril, the two year old boy who lost his life on Monday after drowning in a well at Balangu quarters, Tarauni Local Government Area, Kano state.

The spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano.

He said, “We received a distress call at Kofar Nasarawa Division from one Malam Umar Umar, at about 3:40 pm that a boy had fallen into a well.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at about 3:50 pm,” Mohammed said.

He added, that the little Jibril was playing near the well in their house when he mistakenly fell inside.

The body of Abdullahi was retrieved and then handed over to the father, Alhaji Aliyu Jibril.

Alhaji Saidu Mohammed advise parents to always take a moment or two in checking on their kids when having their fun time.

Furthermore on Alhaji Muhammed’s advise, it is beneficial to raise well beyond children’s height with a lid on it which should be locked at all times to prevent future accidents.
