The ex-governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who passed on Thursday died from multiple organs failure following complications from coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
The Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi, confirmed this via his verified Twitter handle on Friday.
He revealed that Senator Ajimobi died on Thursday at a private facility in Lagos approved by the state government to offer COVID-19 treatment.
Senator Ajimobi, who died aged 70, was a two-term governor of Oyo State – the first person to occupy the seat twice and in succession.
The news of the former governor’s death on Thursday was confirmed by aides and some family members, as well as elder statesmen and political bigwigs in the country.

Rumor had it that he had passed on last week, but his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Bolaji Tunji, dismissed the reports in a statement.
